About
Fabienne
van Acquoy
Maker, mood creator, always learning.
I paint because making brings me closer to myself. It slows me down, gets me out of my head and reminds me how important it is to play, explore and trust the process.

Why I make

I didn't start painting because I had a plan to become an artist. I started because I missed making things with my hands.
In a busy life filled with work, family and everything in between, painting became a place I could return to. A place where I could slow down, work with colour, shape and feeling, and let go of the need to know exactly where I was going.
I'm self-taught and still learning every day. That is part of what I love most about making: there is always more to discover.
Inspired by women
Women have always been at the heart of my work. I'm drawn to feminine strength, intuition, softness, energy and the many ways women carry themselves through life.
My paintings are not portraits in the traditional sense. They are interpretations of feeling, presence and inner worlds — expressed through colour.

Through making, I come back to myself.
And I hope my work inspires others to return to whatever makes them feel alive.

I'm still exploring. New colours, new ideas, new ways of making. I hope you'll come back from time to time and see where it leads.
